| 4:53 am | Losing My Mind Real life sucks big hairy rat balls. Also, I've completely lost one full directory of saved files, and have a story line going through my head that I know was in my SG-1 collection but now I can't find the entire thing and can't think of the title or author. If any of my wonderful (if neglected) friendslist follow SG-1 fic featuring Jack and Daniel as the primary pairing, please see if this rings a bell: SG-1 had to cut their stay at planet x-whatever because of earthquake type activity, leaving huge gaping ravines in the land. Sam and Teal'c have made it through the gate, but Jack and Daniel were stranded. They end up staying for several months in a cave, eventually having to share sleeping bags for warmth during the bitterly cold winter. In one scene, Daniel makes a point of climbing a tall mountain to force himself to confront his fear of heights. When they eventually get back home, Daniel and Janet and Jack and Sam are two couples where the women tolerate (?) their men's closeness. This is not a gay!Jack or gay!Daniel story, folks. They are two heterosexual men who find relief and comfort with each other. It might not be alot to go by, but any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. |

| 9:17 pm | Attention cooks! I've been challenged by a friend (who loves super hot food) to create the Ultimate Fire pepper poppers. Problem is that our household just doesn't eat that much of the really hot stuff. And so, my request: If you've got a recipe for blazing hot food, please send it my way? Or even just a suggestion for how to get the most fire for these peppers. I've got a marinade of jalapeno & red chili in vinegar, tequila & lime juice started right now, and plan on soaking pablemo, serrano, jalapeno and pulla peppers in it for a few days. Then stuff them in order of size, with some of the marinade and some pepper jack cheese, and coat in jalapeno corn bread before deep frying. There's gotta be more spice and fire that can be added, but that's where I'm coming up short. Please help me out - I've got $50 coming to me if I can make this guy's eyes tear up, but he's really used to hotter-the-better. |

| 1:07 pm | Mother's day Yeah, it's that time again... Happy Mom's day to all (where applicable). My son has to leave the house at 4 am for his job. He decided to wake me up for a hug and kiss to wish me a good day before he left. As I'd gone to bed at 2 am, this was a mixed gift. But still, he remembered, right? Daughter baked cookies for Mom's day. The good kind of extra buttery sugar cookie that's its own meal... and they're super yummy, don't get me wrong. But she left a total mess in the kitchen. I get the impression that she thinks it's my turn to do dishes too. So, fun... Now if I could just get a call back from a few of the million-and-one applications I've turned in, my holiday would be complete. Insert eyeroll and tongue sticking out here. |

| 9:12 pm | Need recs for special topic please I was just informed that a good friend of mine from college is in a coma, and they don't expect her to revive. Our last year in college, she was dating an exchange student (not telling which nationality, cus I don't blame the country!) and got pregnant. Being the good lil southern girl that she was, she married the guy. Over the last 20 years, she's been put in hospital at least 18 times that I'm aware of. Why? Her husband. He's not a drunk, druggie or from an abusive family. Actually, they're really nice. How did he manage to be a wife beater? No one knows. The police aren't protecting her or the kids - after graduation, they moved back to his native country, and the law enforcement there turns a blind eye to this sort of thing. They now have eight living children (two died under odd circumstances), and she was pregnant AGAIN when she was admitted last week. My hands are tied. Even if I were on the correct continent, there is nothing legally that can be done to this sonuvabitch. All I can do is mourn for her, pray for her, and beg the powers that her kids end up with their grandparents. I want to cry... which is no easy thing for me. So my request to you good folks is this: Please recommend hurt/comfort, tear-jerkers, and other kick-in-the-gut stories from HP, BtVS, SG-1, Firefly, and/or NCIS. It's a poor substitute, but will possibly take my mind off that which I can't change. Thanks all, with love. |

But under that is a soft, squishy center and you don't mind at all that you're the only person in the world who gets to see it. |
